About the Camp

The camp is owned and operated by the Church of the Brethren, Western Plains District. It is set in tree covered hills adjoining Leavenworth State Lake. The accommodations are dormitory style, with five double cabins that are divided into ten units that sleep eight in each unit (80 total).

The camp also has a recreational vehicle (RV) area with twenty-two spaces equipped with electricity, water and dumping station. There is also an open area where supplementary tents may be set up. A combination restroom and shower house is available.

There is a dining hall, indoor and outdoor chapel, outdoor stage, two campfire areas, multi-purpose room, storm shelter, kitchen and cook’s quarters. The camp has a well-equipped kitchen that includes refrigerators and a freezer. The dining hall can accommodate as many as 100 and includes a large porch and stone fireplace. The rustic indoor chapel is used as a worship area, meeting hall or crafts center. A building addition to the dining hall of over 800 sq. ft. has a walk out basement multi-purpose room/storm shelter with a half bath downstairs, sleeping area/cook’s quarters, 1 ½ baths on ground level and heating & air conditioning for year round use. The heated manager’s cabin (with kitchen facilities) is used for small (8-10) groups in the off season, as well as for the managers during the summer season.
