Board of Trustees Announce FUNDRAISING Project!Last spring the Camp Mt. Hermon trustees had their annual spring meeting, in which several items were brought to our attention concerning the camp and its upkeep. We are fortunate, in our district, to have two church camps for our youth to attend: Camp Colorado and Camp Mt. Hermon.
As we are in the midst of a transformational movement in Western Plains District, we must not forget the important role these camps play in the development of our youth, in whom lies the future of our church and heritage.
Trustees are hoping for both renovations and additions! The biggest and most pressing issue is the bath house, which needs to be completely renovated with updated plumbing, electrical and fixtures. Other projects we are hoping to complete is a covered picnic area, as well as a new and safer playground area. Putting a covered picnic area and new playground equipment around our existing basketball and volleyball courts would be an incentive to renters, as well as a safe and more accessible area for our children and youth to hang out during camp.
We are asking individuals, churches, families and youth groups to discern how much they are able to give to help us achieve our goal. The fundraising goal is set at $35,000, which should enable both the bath house renovations and the additions of a picnic shelter and new playground equipment. This is quite a lot of money to ask for, especially during a rough economic time. But, many of you have seen these kids at camp and know the impact it has in their lives. Children and youth are learning about our Lord and His people. They forming ideas together for our church's future, whether it be for the camps, local churches, our district, or our denomination. Our children and youth are big dreamers! And, it is well worth the extra effort to continue making it possible for them to attend a Brethren summer church camp.
Any donation, small or large, will be greatly appreciated! If anyone would like to make a contribution, please send it to the following address: Camp Mt. Hermon Fundraiser, c/o Western Plains District Office, P.O. Box 394, McPherson, Kansas 67460. Be sure to write "Camp Mt. Hermon fundraiser" in the memo line of any checks, as well. Over the past few years, we have all become familiar with the term “miraculous expectation”, so the goal is set and we shall leave the rest up to God. We are confident in expecting miracles to happen!
